Our first Junior Friends Committee meeting was a great success! Six youth riders attended as well as four of our adult FLSS liaisons as we began to develop the mission of the Junior Friends.
We went around the room and introduced ourselves, as well as who our favorite horses at the Stable are. The mission of the group was discussed and is being finalized.
It was decided that the group will have officers. 2018 officers will be:
President: Megan V.
Vice President: Brianna T.
Secretary: Brynne M.
The group felt that members of the Junior Friends should become FLSS members as a way to identify and support their equestrian community at Lord Stirling Stables.
A minimum volunteering requirement was agreed upon: Members will volunteer for the amount of hours as they are old each year (ex. a 14 year old will be expected to volunteer at least 14 hours per year). All volunteers should sign in and out of the Volunteer Hour Log Book located in the Main Office at the Stable anytime he/she is volunteering.
Volunteer projects for 2018 were discussed and include the following:
It was decided that Instagram, Snapchat, and e-mail will be the best methods of communication for the group. A Junior Friends Instagram account is in the making!
Frequency of meetings was suggested to be every two weeks so that all new members get a chance to make it. Our next meeting will be Sunday April 8th at 12:00 pm in the Lord Stirling Stable addition.
We can't wait to see you there. Bring your friends and fantastic ideas!
